There are MANY causes of alopecia. You need a vet to determine what the problem is and to figure out what to do with it.

demonic mange - it is actually caused by mites all dogs have, but when they are really stressed or when there is an immune system problem like poor nutrition, then they will grow to the point where the dog's hair will fall out. You can take the dog to the vet and have a skin scraping test - they can tell you exactly why it is occuring. If it is mange - you need to start treatment ASAP - it can get really bad and uncomfortable for the dog.

Could be a lot of things...poor nutrition, mange, skin infection, over washing, hypothyroidism, stress, best bet is to take the dog to the vet so they can determine the cause and treat it appropriately.

Strange that!! my brother has had two Dobies, both of which have suffered with this problem. The latest Dobie is just ten months old, and his coat suddenly went very thin, and his skin became very dry and flakey. The vet doesn't seem to think its mange, and has given them some drops to put on the dogs coat.....after just a couple of weeks, the fur is starting to come back nicely, and his coat is starting to look glossy again! I guess it must be something to do with the breed. You can get a dog shampoo called 'Exmarid' Its quite good for dogs with dry skin conditions, whichj i think ofetn leads to the hair loss. give it a try. But remember to follow the instructions! you dilute it first! don't use it neat!! Good luck!

It is an inherited genetic condition seen in recessive colors of Dobermans.

We see alot of it in BLues and Fawns. Most times they strat out ok as pups but by the time they are full grown most have thin brittle coats and hair loss.

It is partly due to the fact the fawn and blue are the recessive clors in doberman genetics. They carry two dilute genes for color and those carry with the the alopecia problem.

A very high quality diet with some type of suppliment containing zinc and Omega 3s will help some.

But most have some skin and coat issues.

There are a lot of things you can do, but you will need to go to your Vet because they are the only ones who can treat it.

Never had one but I know Dobie owners and breeders. It's a genetic problem that causes it but it can be treated (see your Vet)and adding zinc and omega 3 supplements to their diet can help.
