the same thing happened to my 8 yr old daughter. There is usually nothing that you can do, but I suggest going to see a dematologist. They gave my daughter some steriod creme to put on patches... Eventually the hair did grow back...about six months

Alopecia\loss of hair, helpppp?

Not sure about a 16 year old, but I started ordering the generic version of Propecia online at 40 and i am currently 43 and have the best head of hair that i have had in 10 years. I never told anyone i was using it and everyone noticed. Im sure it doesnt work this well for everyone but it did for me. I experienced no side effects. The negative is, that it only works while you take it. Thats why i found a cheap source online http://www.4-rx.net And i dont have to run to the doctor for a prescription when i order.

Just click on the generic name finasteride.

They are also doing studies on dutasteride, but i have no personal experience with that. Its on the site also. Initial studies are showing it up to 30% more effective than propecia. The brand name for dutaseride is Avodart.

Hair loss - please please please help me?

I recently discovered a large balad patch, about an inch accross, on the base of my scalp. Most of it it starting to grow back, but very slowly %26amp; like stubble, there's still a small section not growing back. I've booked an appointment at the doctors as I believe its due to stress/depression.Or possible thryoid problems (I have a family history of it)

Basically I'm asking for ANY advice about what I can do to help it grow back, what treatments I should use,any supplements etc

Also I've bleached my hair since I was 14 (I'm now 19)%26amp;I was contemplating whether I should go back to my natural hair colour, as I don't want to weaken my hair futher. However after being blonde for so many years,it would be a big change for me,so I would prefer to still have it dyed slightly lighter than it is naturally (professionally) but I wonder if any dye will damage my hair?

Its very embarassing%26amp;I have to wear my hair up for work, so any help anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

The area of hair loss...is it completely slick at the scalp or are there little bits of stubble? (not the new part growing back in) If it is slick, the hair has fallen out. If it is stubble, the hair has broken off. You are doing the right thing seeing a doctor. He/she can take a look and evaluate the situation properly. Hair loss in patches is called alopecia areata. Thyroid can indeed be a major factor in hair problems. Be sure to tell your physician. If it is breakage instead of alopecia my suggestion would be to stop the bleaching. There is the possibility of whats called "overlapping" of the bleach leading to breakage. Depending on how dark your natural hair is...there are other methods of keeping your hair lighter in color. Good luck.

Your decision to see a doctor, go back to your natural hair colour are the best advise you can get. Rogaine is also made for women. Expensive but works for many. I hope you get better soon and that your stress levels lower. Have a great year and I wish you the best.

i have recently lost some of my hair due to chemotherapy and i am very suprised about how quickly it is growing back due to a special shampoo/conditioner combination i use. it is called Nioxin. It's not too expensive...just 15 bucks for a bottle, but make sure you get the shampoo and condition because they react with eachother. i think this stuff works great...good luck!!

Hair loss - please please please help me?

The reason of hair loss in most cases is lack of Vitamin B12 in blood, try to take a proper regime that contains it, if its so serious u can support by using special pills or ... ! But I offer you to visit the Doctor...

Wish it works Dear :)

Hair loss and thinning hair have been sensitive issues for men throughout time. Recently, medical science has eventually identified the main cause of hair loss. At present, it's a known medical fact that hair loss stems from both genetic and hormonal causes. Androgenetic Alopecia or even "male pattern hair loss" is implicated in ninety five percent of hair loss cases. The key is a hormonal byproduct called DHT (dihydrotestostrone). The even more DHT that gets put into your body, the even more your hair follicles turn into thinner and finer until the hair is permanently wasted.

DHT and hair loss

DHT is 1 of many male hormones in the body. DHT is developmentally vital early in a man閳ユ獨 life; however, it appears to be a cause of hair loss as men get older. DHT shrinks the hair follicle until it no longer produces obvious hair.

Doctors believe that excess DHT is an apparent cause of hair loss The causes of hair loss aren't well defined; however, researchers have uncovered that men with male pattern hair loss have increased levels of DHT in the balding area of their scalps. Individual hair usually follows a cycle of expansion, falling out, and new expansion. However increased levels of DHT are believed to contribute to the shortening of the expansion phase and a shortening of the time it takes for the hair to fall out. This results in thinning of the hair on the scalp.

Provillus blocks DHT (dihydrotestostrone) from getting to your body, which is 1 of the major causes of hair loss. The Breakthrough formula of Provillus was designed to block DHT and supply the proper foods to your body specifically tailored to block hair loss and to help you regrow hair naturally. Strong, sound hair begins with the proper nutritional building blocks. You do not have to hold off until there's a problem to end it! Provillus supplements your body's natural supply of these vitamins and lets the tiny follicles below your scalp receive exactly what they want to manufacture beautiful, full-bodied hair.

It's a good idea to go see your doctor because patchy hair loss can be from an underlying disease or infection. My case is a typical male pattern baldness (MPB) that began in my early 20's.

Unfortunately, MPB is genetics and there's not much that can be done to stop it. But it can be slowed down. I used different products to do so beginning with Nioxin. Then I upgraded to minoxidil (same as Rogaine, but cheaper), now I'm using Hairobics. They all work, just depends on what your comfortable with.

Watch this Dateline NBC video. It reviewed 5 products and the results are encouraging. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6590766

Someone i know is having hair loss. what remedies should they use.?

when they come their hair alot of hair is falling out. what could they use to stop the hair from falling and make their hair more healthy and Strong. what type of shampoo or treatments.

Someone i know is having hair loss. what remedies should they use.?

kelp tablets or spirulina

aloe vera juice with cranberry juice

green tea with cayenne pepper capsules

do a liver detox

avoid any chemical product ie shampoo, dish detergent, air fresheners, toiletries, after shaves etc

Someone i know is having hair loss. what remedies should they use.?

maybe the cause of hair loss is that she might not have enough nourishment in her body um you might what to use something for dry/damaged hair maybe um or the reason might be radiation.

Someone i know is having hair loss. what remedies should they use.?

If the hair that they are losing has the hair ball (root) attached to the end, then they are losing it from their scalp...it could mean that they have a condition that needs to be diagnosed by a doctor.

If they are losing it as if it has broken off from a longer piece of hair, that means that they have hair breakage because their hair isn't healthy, maybe over processed? Start taking "hair" vitamins, and using humectant shampoos, a deep conditioner once a week and hold off on the heat processing, like blow drying and hot ironing.

That's what happened to me and the above seemed to work. Hope this helps.

Hair Falling out!! Thinning %26amp; Hair Loss?

Good healthy hair starts with good internal health. Have you ever noticed people that look really healthy have nice shiny full heads of hair? If I were you I would go into your local guru in wholistic medicine and see what natural supplement the can offer for robust hair growth. I閳ユ獫e had success with a product called Provillus also.

Hair Falling out!! Thinning %26amp; Hair Loss?

Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. To treat hair loss apply a little lemon juice with some black tea. Massage well and shampoo.Rub oil into the scalp. Wring out a towel in hot water and wrap it on the head. Keep it on for 15 minutes. Shampoo and dry well. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.

Steps You can take to avoid hair loss:-

Wash your hair regularly in warm water and use a deep conditioner.

Eat a balanced diet. Nutritional deficiencies, eating disorders and excessive amounts of certain vitamins, such as A and E, can cause hair loss.

Take care of your health. Chronic illness, high fevers and infections can contribute to hair loss.

Stay away from harsh chemicals - permanent hair color and perms are the most damaging - and avoid coloring your hair more than once every six to eight weeks.

Avoid hairstyles like ponytails and cornrows, which stretch and pull hair.

Keep in mind that it's normal to lose between 50 and 100 hairs a day.

Consult your general physician or dermatologist regarding concerns about hair loss.

Has anyone experienced complete hair loss and taken thyroid medication to help?

I am trying to find a way to regrow my hair and was wondering if thyroid medication would help. I don't want to take the shots in the scalp anymore or take steroids because they stop working as soon as the treatment is done.

Has anyone experienced complete hair loss and taken thyroid medication to help?

You will lose hair if your thyroid is underactive and meds for it will stop it, but, the meds would not help you if your thyroid is normal. In fact, if you overact it with thyroid meds you could lose even more hair. Have your thyroid tested (TSH test) and if its normal, meds will not help you.

Has anyone experienced complete hair loss and taken thyroid medication to help?

Thyroid medication will help with the hair loss IF YOUR HAIR LOSS IS DUE TO A THYROID PROBLEM. Is it?

If you do not have an under active thyroid, taking thyroid medicine can give you serious problems... like a heart attack. And it won't do anything for your hair.

What is a good shampoo for hair, when you are loosing hair?

I notice I am having hair loss, I think is my shampoo, can someone recomend a good shampoo to stop the hair loss or a treatment to stop it?

What is a good shampoo for hair, when you are loosing hair?

They make shampoo for horses that promotes hair growth. No joke, it works.

What is a good shampoo for hair, when you are loosing hair?

Progaine 2-in-1 Shampoo, from the makers of Rogaine.

What is a good shampoo for hair, when you are loosing hair?

Not really a shampoo I can recommend, but why don't you try, Virgin Coconut Oil, extra virgin, doesn't matter, as long as it is not refined nor bleached.

Put in on overnight. Place a towel over your pillow so your pillow case won't be greasy with oil. And in the next morning, wash it off with toxin-free shampoo, and to really remove the smell of the coconuts (it's not really that a bad smell), use conditioner.

Thyroid disorders and hair loss. What is common and does anything help?

I was diagnosed with Graves disease early this year and underwent the radiation treatment for the disease. Now that they are adjusting my medicine I am finding that my hair is falling out a lot. They say that there are certain shampoos out there that help. Does anyone have any advice to prevent the hairloss?

Thyroid disorders and hair loss. What is common and does anything help?

i have that problem. i was tested for Lupas and Thyroid Disease. and i was fine. but then checked for low Iron and found out i have Anemia and that was the problem. i take Iron pills and a Multi-vitamin pill everyday.

eat healthy and take a multi-vitamin.

get good sleep also.

Thyroid disorders and hair loss. What is common and does anything help?

Monitor your iron levels. Thyroid can cause anemia or iron deficiency, which also results in hair loss. Eat plenty of protein, enough for your current body weight since hair and skin is made of protein. A good hair salon or beauty supply can suggest a shampoo-- there are "anti-aging" shampoos that protect and strengthen the follicle.

Thyroid disorders and hair loss. What is common and does anything help?

Having your hair fall out is a symptom of hypothyroidism. Now that your doctors have given you hypothyroidism, you need to get treatment for it.
